What's Happening?
SEPTA is facing a $213 million budget deficit driven by the expiration of federal COVID-19 relief funds, reduced state Turnpike funding transfers, and rising operational costs.
This will cause fare hikes of over 20 percent and drastic service cuts to every part of SEPTA. These measures would directly affect the more than 746,000 daily riders who depend on SEPTA for transportation throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania, and do irreparable harm to the economy of the Commonwealth.

SEPTA has been given a temporary lifeline to prevent service cuts until next year, and will have to implement cuts if no funding deal is reached in the 2026 or 2027 state budgets!
